Revelation 17 & 18

As I have been making my way through the book of Revelation, I have covered a few controversial topics, but chapters 17 & 18 are the ones that punch the hardest.  Why?  Because I am confronted with lifestyles and attitudes that I must choose between.  Between a  lifestyle of greed and indulgence and one of separation unto God. And then, between an attitude of longing for the stuff of this world or an attitude of longing for Jesus.  The topic of these chapters is not just an end times timing issue but an issue of the heart that reveals my allegiance in an everyday practical way.  As I have been teaching on this book (Revelation) I have had to make some changes.  Less time watching television with no watching of any type of sitcom made after the 1960's and very few if any movies.  More time reading God's word and prayer, not just devotionally, but in a way that consumes me all day long. And then in regards to my stuff and finances moving from an owners mentality to a stewards mentality.  God owns all my stuff and finances, I am just the steward of it.

The promised blessing that comes with reading the book of Revelation is this:  Our eyes are opened to the lies of the enemy, from the seduction of this world and from all it's empty promises and we get Jesus who is the ONLY one who truly satisfies.

"They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful." Revelation 17:14
